Gelcoat Spider Cracks

Hairline and spider crack repairs are indispensable to preserve the integrity of your yacht.

An aging yacht will eventually show hairline cracks, some do at the first years of age. While the cosmetic damage is what irritates most owners, these cracks are in some cases associated with deeper blisters, which allows moisture to infiltrate the fiberglass and the deeper core.

The purpose of the gelcoat layer on your yacht is to preserve the structural integrity of the fiberglass and make the outer feel pleasing to the touch and look. We suggest you consider repairing all cracks, in particular the ones on horizontal surfaces where water can deposit and gradually be absorbed.

Before filling and redoing the gelcoat, each and every one of the cracks must be deepened to avoid superficial repair and reappearance.
